NFL Hall of Fame

The 2009 NFL Hall of Fame class is announced this Saturday. In this year…

Shannon Sharpe, already in the Trash Talking Hall of Fame Shannon remains the best tight end of all. “Yeah that right Tony Gonzales, how many rings you got?”

Bruce Smith, four trips to the Super Bowl and 200 career sacks. He was the defensive player of the year in 90 and 96 but could have been picked any year in between.

Paul Tagliabue
, reined over the NFL during a period of tremendous growth and prosperity. At the end of the day, what is the most popular sport in America? Paul was a vital reason football is now the answer.

Chris Carter, he scored 130 touchdowns, caught 1,101 passes and both were second most ever at time of retirement. He should have been in last year!

Future Hall of Famers, but not this year…
Rod Woodson
Andre Reed
Derrick Thomas

An Oath so nice, he's taken it twice...

So after the poor showing on inauguration day, John Roberts and Barak Obama decided to give the the Presidential Oath of Office another try on Wednesday. This time they correctly repeated, "I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." Congratulations boys!

Barak now becomes the first Democrat in history to screw up this one line... the previous two Presidents to re-do the Oath were Calvin Coolidge and Chester Authur. Authur (I know your all saying we had a president named Chester?) repeated the Oath after taking it quickly in his apartment and then more formally in Washington. Coolidge was sworn in first by his father (a state notary public) and then by a Justice A. A. Hoehling. Both Coolidge and Authur became president through the death of the sitting president. Obama now holds the distinction of being the only President to retake the oath due to concerns of not saying it correctly.

By the way, it should be pointed out that the Republican appointed Roberts screwed up the Oath as well...as is often the case, both parties are equally inept.

Worst Brother Ever???

The book, "The McGwire Family Secret: The Truth about Steroids, a Slugger and Ultimate Redemption," is currently being shopped to publishers, promising full disclosure about Mark McGwire's steroid use. The horrible part of the story is the author is Mark McGwire's brother Jay. Apparently, the two brothers have not been close in years and Jay feels the need to cash in now, on his brothers poor decisions. I envision a poorly written story that will lack truth and is void ultimate redemption. Unless redemption means crawling out of the public life in shame??? Well, good luck Jay. Perhaps this book will help jump start the economy.

An Interesting End???

These are the last words given by Rev. Joseph Lowery in benediction at Obama's inauguration, : 'Lord, in the memory of all the saints who from their labors rest, and in the joy of a new beginning, we ask you to help us work for that day when black will not be asked to get in back, when brown can stick around... when the red man can get ahead, man; and when white will embrace what is right. That all those who do justice and love mercy say Amen. Say Amen.

Gator Pride in 2009???

After winning a couple of National Championships and a Heisman Trophy Tim Tebow has decided to return for one more year of college football. With underclassmen making announcements about their future, I've decided to announce next years BCS fiasco. Penn State will ruin everyone's hope for a Texas-Florida National Championship, by beating The Ohio State community college football team and going undefeated in the lousy 10.

This leaves three familiar teams in line for Who's going to Whip the Big Ten Winner this year. I'll rank them out... 3)USC (who loses to Oregon) 2)Texas (who loses a tough game against Oklahoma) 1)Florida (who goes undefeated) I know, the SEC is too tough to go undefeated in...

In other BCS News 9-3 Notre Dame returns to the BCS with an at large bid. This of course paired with an invitation to The Ohio State, pushes out a deserving 12-0 Boise State or TCU team.

Here's Tim Tebow announcing his return. The 2009 Heisman Trophy Winner.
